After five days, we have reached 80% of our goal!
Astounding! In addition to financial support, the benefit of hearing from friends near and far (plus made some new ones) has been heart-warming. The Monroe Watchman featured our Kickstarter campaign on their FRONT PAGE on July 22. We are very grateful for hometown publicity, the generous support of backers and the well wishes of all! Upward and onward!
I was interested to read about your book in the Monroe Watchman. My wife, Karen Hill Widener, is a Monroe County Native who grew up in Gates which a farming area a few miles from union. Her maternal grandfather was Jesse Hatcher who lived in Beckley so it’s possible you and she might be distantly related. We are looking forward to buying a copy of the book when it is released and we’d like to help with the fund raising campaign. The book sounds really interesting. Good for you.
Thank you for your interest! I am once again amazed at the folks who read “The Watchman”, our small weekly newspaper.
Your wife and I may be related as my branch of the Hatchers lived on or near Flat Top, WV. My grandfather’s name was William Robert Hatcher and he had several brothers. They were farmers and teachers in Raleigh County and I think Grandfather also ran the post office there. My dad, James Edmund Hatcher, was born near Spanishburg, WV on the old Beckley road in a large farmhouse. They moved toward Bluefield and Princeton in more recent years.
I am delighted you contributed to our kickstarter campaign and will be sending a survey in a few days to get your address for shipping. Thank you, again. We Hatchers have to stick together!
