I’m sad to report that our pet alpaca passed away last week. The dreaded worm that attacks the nervous system, for which there is no cure, stuck our farm again. Meningeal worms are spread by deer. The deer aren’t harmed, they just carry the worms who leave the deer in manure and travel to the grass eaten by the alpaca. Al lost control of his hind legs first and was a bit unsteady before staggering from place to place. The vet came and administered vitamins and nutritional supplements, but it was too late. Our lives will be a little less rich with his passing.
